E-Z Drill expands manufacturing plant to streamline production, increase capacity

Adds 7,500 square feet to existing 36,000 square foot factory.

E-Z Drill’s new factory expansion increases its production capacity by adding more than 7,500 square feet of floor space, roughly 20 percent more room, to its 36,355-square-foot factory in Perry, OK.

The expansion will house an office and a new shipping and receiving area, as well as make room for E-Z Drill’s growing welding department. The project began in June with setting the concrete foundation and is projected for completion by early fall 2015.

“We’re adding on to our facility to meet the growing demand from customers in the construction, public works, and utility industries for our products and services. The new addition will streamline production by expanding our welding area, giving us room for additional workers and providing space for our automated design and manufacturing equipment,” said Randy Stevens, E-Z Drill vice president of sales and marketing. “That way we can continue completing orders quickly and efficiently for our customers around the world.”

The expansion also plays a critical role in E-Z Drill’s internal logistical network. A new office within the expansion will pass any generated orders to the production crew. And relocating the shipping and receiving area to the expansion allows the welding department to spread out in the vacant space.

In addition to the shop expansion, E-Z Drill is incorporating a new inventory system to enhance the manufacturing process by minimizing waste and inventory costs. This results in a more environmentally friendly company and contributes toward a leaner, more efficient operation.

E-Z Drill manufactures pneumatic drilling equipment for concrete drilling and doweling applications, including airport runway repair, lane additions and highway maintenance. Its drills maximize productivity with easy setup and operation. For example, its 210-3 SRA drill is self- propelled, allowing the operator to move the unit, as well as the air compressor that powers it, along concrete slabs from one drilling location to the next.

E-Z Drill offers contractors equipment for concrete drilling and doweling that is faster, more accurate and safer than handheld rock drills. The company was established in 1987 and manufactures slab rider, on-grade and equipment-mounted drills with as many as five gangs as well as vertical utility models and concrete drilling accessories, such as dust-collection systems.

E-Z Drill also can custom design and build automatic drill systems for specific jobs. For more information: E-Z Drill, 610 Cedar St., Perry, OK 73077; 800-272-0121; sales@ezdrill.com; www.ezdrill.com
