Hyde hires Gerald Overstreet as category manager
Overstreet will lead drywall and masonry products within for Hyde's construction division.
Hyde Group, a North American leader in hand tools and industrial blades, has hired Gerald E. Overstreet as Category Manager for Drywall and Masonry products within the group’s construction division.
Overstreet comes to Hyde from the Weiler Corporation in Cresco, PA, where he was national sales and market manager for hardware and construction distribution. His new position will take effect immediately.
“Gerry brings more than 22 years of valuable knowledge and experience in product, sales, and management positions in the channels we engage,” said Corey Talbot, Vice President of Marketing and Product Development. “And because his deep industry experience is coupled with years of hands-on experience in field sales, Gerry comes to us with an already impressive understanding of our product line.”
Overstreet will manage Hyde Group’s extensive drywall and masonry categories for two Hyde Group companies: U.S.-based Hyde Tools and Richard Tools in Canada.
“He is such a great tactical thinker — able to apply critical thought to cross-disciplinary challenges,” said Talbot, “which is precisely the skill we look for in category management.”
Overstreet’s experience includes multiple sales and marketing management positions serving industrial, construction, and retail markets within Weiler Corporation and Lenox (division of Newell/Rubbermaid). His experience with both companies provided him with relevant and specialized knowledge of surface conditioning products and abrasives, as well as industrial band saw blades, hand tools and power tool accessories.
He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and holds an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Hyde Group, based in Southbridge, MA, includes three operating companies with a distinguished history of leadership dating back to the mid-1800s in the manufacture and mass marketing of hand tools and specialized industrial blades. Learn more at www.hydetools.com.
