This one had them lined up at World of Concrete 2014.

Sacramento contractor Frank Mikowychok has invented a new tool, the Rattle Stick, that connects into any kind of walking tool (bull floats, joint cutters, edgers, etc.) between the pole and the tool and sends a mild vibration into the tool to cut down on finishing time.

The Rattle Stick weighs just over 4 lbs., and clips in and out of walking tools as easily as the pole does, so there’s no need to unbolt your vibrating tool from one tool and attach it to another.

No longer will you need to shake your pole with a specific rhythm to get the finish you want, as the Rattle Stick does all this for you. The Rattle Stick works exceptionally well in both joint cutting and working in any kind of color hardener, since the vibration works in the hardener or your joint quickly and easily.

It comes with a rechargeable battery that lasts 4 to 6 hours, depending on how heavily you use the tool throughout the day. The Rattle Stick takes approximately 3 hours to charge a completely depleted battery. Every tool comes with a charger and additional batteries are available upon request.

The Rattle Stick will be shipped in a watertight, reusable tube that also acts as a carrying case for the tool.

Specifically designed for decorative concrete work, the Rattle Stick works best when used with smaller walking tools, but will still operate with a minimal loss of functionality with larger tools as well.

In testing the Rattle Stick was used with and without vibration on a small pour. Without the tool attached to the Bull Float, on average it was determined that it takes approximately 20 - 25 passes to get the cream up on top of the concrete and finish the way any paying customer would expect. Compare that with the 4 passes it took with the Rattle Stick attached to the Bull Float, at which point it becomes apparent just exactly how valuable this tool becomes.

Owner and Manufacturer of the Rattle Stick, Frank Mikowychok, commented on the success after the trade show stating

“I initially made this for my own personal use and once I saw how well it worked, I wanted to make it available to everyone in the industry," he said. "Almost everyone we spoke to at the show was very excited about it. We’re looking into distribution right now and we expect to grow quite a bit in the coming months.”

While the Rattle Stick is just making an appearance on the concrete scene, the owner of the company comes with over 20+ years of concrete experience. Every tool is manufactured in Sacramento, CA and comes with a two year warranty on every purchase. After two years, repairs are done at the cost of the part.
