Cables & Lights: General Tools TorchScope Video Recording Flashlight
The new TorchScope Video Recording Flashlight (DCF1) from General Tools & Instruments is ideal for construction, renovation, security and maintenance projects and tasks involving line-of-sight inspections. The instrument combines a powerful LED flashlight with a camera that can record and store high-definition video and photos.
These media files can be date- and time-stamped to document or create a timeline of projects or events. Audio is captured simultaneously with video clips, allowing the user to record ambient sound, comments and explanations.
Here are a few examples of common applications for the TorchScope:

- documenting ongoing maintenance and repair tasks

- recording insurance adjuster and home inspections
The TorchScope is ruggedly constructed with a stainless steel housing and a non-slip knurled grip. The entire unit is IP68 waterproof, making it operable under water up to 10m (33 ft.) deep.
Four buttons on the handle control: menu access, brightness and illumination-mode selection, photo and video capture, and zoom (up to 4X).
The flashlight can be used independently or in conjunction with the integral camera. Brightness and illumination-mode selections include 50%, 75%, 100%, fast strobe and S-O-S Morse Code transmission.
The integral camera has a 60° field of view and a 2.4 in. (60mm)-to-infinity depth of field. A straightforward, user-friendly menu facilitates: changing photo and video resolution, turning date/time stamp on or off, and choosing from 11 on-screen languages.
Photos and video are stored on an internal memory card. The TorchScope comes with a 4GB MicroSD card, but users can opt for cards with up to 32GB of memory. With the included 4GB card, the TorchScope can record up to 60 minutes of video at HD resolution or 78 minutes at VGA resolution. Using a 32GB card, the numbers increase to 8 hours HD and more than 10 hours VGA. Saved media can be viewed on the LCD viewfinder or on a computer by directly inserting the memory card or connecting the flashlight via the included USB cable.
The TorchScope comes in a custom hard plastic carrying case along with a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, a 4GB MicroSD card, a USB charging/interface cable and a User’s Manual.
