Makita XCU08 and XCU09 Cordless Chain Saws

Makita U.S.A., Inc., the innovation leader in cordless power tool technology and outdoor power equipment, is excited to announce the launch of 18V X2 LXT (36V) Brushless Cordless 14” and 16” Top Handle Chainsaws (models XCU08 and XCU09, respectively). With the addition of these two chainsaws, Makita now offers the most comprehensive cordless chainsaw portfolio.

Makita’s LXT Cordless Top Handle Chainsaws are compact in size, making them ideal for professional arborists and utility companies. The XCU08 and XCU09 are the most powerful cordless top handle chainsaws currently available.

Built for Power, Speed, and Run Time

Both chain saws feature a Makita-built outer rotor brushless motor direct-drive system that provides power equivalent to a 30cc gas chain saw*. Two 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Batteries deliver 36V of power and performance.

All that power is harnessed to cut up to 25% faster than gas chainsaws*. A variable speed trigger and high chain speed (0-3,940 FPM) provide improved cutting performance. For even more power, the Torque Boost Mode helps the chainsaw cut through thick and hard branches.

Three sets of 5.0Ah batteries provide 25% more run time than a 30cc gas chainsaw. Using one set of 5.0Ah batteries, the XCU08 (14” Guide Bar) made 62 cuts in 6x6 douglas fir.

Features
The new Makita LXT Cordless Top Handle Chainsaws are packed with features designed for professional usage. The 14” or 16” 3/8” LP, .43” sprocket nose guide bar and chain provide precise cutting, and bumper spikes help prevent pull-in and aid control. The captured guide bar nut and lateral chain tensioning offer convenient operation and maintenance.

Users can automatically adjust chain lubrication with a large oil reservoir. A large oil filling port with view window allows the user to easily add and check bar oil level.

A built-in lock-off lever helps prevent the blade from accidentally engaging, while the front hand guard is engineered to actuate the chain brake when engaged. The chainsaws feature an auto power-off function that automatically shuts the saw off after 60 seconds for extended battery life. A rear attachment point allows users to connect the chainsaw to the climbing saddle.

The chainsaws also feature Makita’s Extreme Protection Technology (XPT). XPT is a series of integrated seals engineered to channel away dust and water for increased durability. Makita Products equipped with XPT are engineered for increased durability and longer tool life.
