Mar-Bal Waste-Safe Fire-Resistant Wastebaskets

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), every 24 seconds, a fire department responds to a fire in the United States. In the home, the kitchen is the #1 place where these fires originate. A traditional wastebasket in the home or office can be a potentially dangerous fire hazard as a volatile mix of combustible or improperly discarded materials can start a fire.

In an effort to combat this problem, Mar-Bal, Inc. (Mar-Bal: Chagrin Falls, OH) an ISO 9001:2015 Registered Company, previously recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of America’s fastest growing companies, has developed Waste-SafeTM fire resistant wastebaskets.

Made in the USA at its state-of-the-art 110,700 square foot facility in Painesville, Ohio, the fire resistant wastebaskets are made from thermoset composites with fiberglass reinforcement and are available in a range of colors and sizes.

The UL® Classified and CSFM Listed line will contain a fire without burning, melting or collapsing. When implemented, the wastebaskets improve an organization’s overall fire safety plans and leads to an overall improved risk management plan. Designed for safety and efficiency, Waste-SafeTM wastebaskets will not burn or contribute to a fire, are low smoke and non-toxic, and feature seamless construction.

Additionally, typical round metal trash receptacles can dent easily and will rust–often leaving a metal stain on the floor. Mar-Bal wastebaskets can also help reduce these preventative maintenance costs, are easy to clean, and are corrosion and rust proof–so they’re guaranteed to last.

Designed and manufactured by Mar-Bal, for versatile commercial and industrial use, the Waste-SafeTM fire resistant wastebaskets are an essential product across a myriad of markets including: hospitals, nursing homes/senior living, offices, K-12 classrooms, laboratories, apartments, college campuses, correction facilities, lodging/hotels, vacation rentals, etc.

According to Mar-Bal’s Director, Proprietary Products, Anthony Lignetta, “Mar-Bal’s expansion of the Waste-Safe fire resistant wastebasket line complements our proprietary products family and reflects our commitment to diversified composite growth. Ultimately, it’s a low cost solution compared to metal, and it promotes organization and, most importantly fire safety as we have a V-0 listed fire resistance rating.”

Lignetta also noted, “Our integrated distribution network is strong, and many offer immediate online availability. In addition, we are currently looking for additional distribution in the western USA.”

In conclusion, Lignetta emphasized that September is The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and The Center for Campus Fire Safety’s Campus Fire Safety Month. The collective organizations work together to help raise awareness about the dangers of fires among college-aged students who live on-and off-campus in college housing. According to Lignetta, “That's a great time to review best fire safety practices and put these practices into action.”
