Chicago Pneumatic has launched a range of hydraulic torque wrenches for maintenance teams working on high-load joints and restricted-access fasteners. The tools support tightening and breakout on large flanges, pressure vessels, and heavy machinery connections during planned shutdowns, outages, and field maintenance.
Delivering more than 52,000 foot-pound of torque with accuracy within 3%, the range supports controlled tightening across heavy-duty and critical joints. It includes THS square-drive torque wrenches for tightening and breakout using compatible impact sockets, alongside THL low-profile powerheads paired with interchangeable TR ratchet links for fasteners in restricted spaces. Together, the two configurations accommodate large flanges, heavy equipment connections, and difficult-to-access joints.
The THS square-drive tools feature a dual-swivel rotating head to improve accessibility around surrounding equipment, while an adjustable handle improves ergonomics during use. The retained reaction arm remains secured to the tool during handling and positioning, reducing the risk of dropped components when technicians work at height.
Both tool types operate as part of a closed hydraulic system developed to withstand humidity, dirt, and harsh industrial conditions, supporting reliable performance on site. A common twin-port interface ensures compatibility with other brands’ pumps and hoses, helping operators deploy equipment quickly and maintain uptime. ETQ electric and ATQ air-driven hydraulic pumps accommodate different operating environments and available site infrastructure.
“Reliable controlled bolting starts with choosing the right technology for the joint and working conditions,” said Product Marketing Manager Miguel Almonte. “A high-torque flange in an open area presents a very different challenge to a critical joint with restricted clearance or limited access to power.
“Our expanded portfolio allows customers to choose hydraulic, pneumatic, or cordless tooling based on those practical requirements, with technical support, calibration, and service available throughout the equipment’s working life.”
Hydraulic torque wrenches support controlled bolt loading in applications where joint reliability is essential. Applying the specified torque consistently can help reduce the risk of leakage, vibration, and mechanical failure across flanges, pressure vessels, heavy machinery connections, and structural assemblies.
The range supports maintenance and installation work across mining, power genera-tion, manufacturing, construction, and oil and gas. It extends Chicago Pneumatic’s controlled bolting portfolio, allowing customers to select hydraulic, pneumatic, or cord-less tools according to torque requirements, available clearance, and site power.
