The project involves dewatering holding shafts and tunnels to allow crews to access the bottom between rain events. Efficient dewatering was critical to keep the project on schedule.
Faced with a 150-foot-deep access shaft and a tight project timeline, the contractor turned to Tsurumi Pump for a reliable pumping system that was not only capable of meeting the design conditions, but also available.
With the need to pump approximately 1,450 gallons per minute at 160 feet of head, the contractor selected two Tsurumi’s LH875 high head pump with an eight inch discharge, which provided the necessary performance for the application.
Tsurumi’s in stock availability proved to be a crucial factor. The pumps, along with pre-wired control panels and custom cable lengths, were shipped immediately, allowing the project to proceed without delay. Without this quick access to equipment, the contractor would have faced the additional expense of renting temporary equipment, impacting their budget and project timeline.
The project remains ongoing and Tsurumi’s pumps are continuing to perform reliably. As work progresses, the LH875 pumps play a pivotal role in maintaining access to the stormwater system, ensuring that dewatering operations align with the project’s goals. Their consistent performance has allowed crews to safely reach the bottom of the shafts between rain events, preventing unnecessary delays and keeping rehabilitation efforts on track.
Tsurumi’s ability to provide a complete solution, including necessary accessories, helped to streamline installation and ensure optimal performance. By eliminating long lead times, the contractor was able to focus on executing the project, rather than logistics.
