Tsurumi Pump is enhancing its pump customization services to better address the growing needs of various industries. With many sectors encountering challenges in meeting new infrastructure requirements, Tsurumi is committed to providing specialized solutions to help its clients’ projects stay on track and meet operational standards.
Humberto Ponce, a veteran product technician at Tsurumi, has played a key role in this expansion. Starting as a warehouse associate in 2011 and advancing to his current role at Tsurumi in 2015, he has seen firsthand the rising demand for customized pumps.
“Since the pandemic, work has been consistently growing,” Ponce said. “We prioritize maintaining stock levels and fulfilling customers’ needs, especially with custom work and specific requests, which are integral to our service offerings.”
Custom cable options in various lengths can be fabricated and installed on pumps to avoid issues associated with field splicing.
“One of the most common customizations involves connecting cables that can reach to 100 ft or more," Ponce explained. “This is crucial for mining applications where the power supply is often distant from where the pumps need to operate.”
Besides cable length customization, Tsurumi frequently converts pumps to meet specific customer requirements. Ponce explained that distributors and clients often request custom modifications to their pumps. Following a thorough evaluation by the engineering team to determine feasibility, Tsurumi proceeds with the conversion, ensuring the final product meets stringent quality standards.
Expanded capabilities
Tsurumi’s emphasis on customization extends beyond meeting current needs to preparing for future demands. The company is gearing up to launch a new in-house testing facility, bolstering its ability to rapidly and efficiently design and test customized modifications.
“Soon, all our testing and conversions will be consolidated in a dedicated, fully equipped facility,” Ponce shared. “This will streamline our processes and allow us to meet customer requirements even more efficiently.”
