The 2025 Pro Tool Innovation Awards received nearly 400 entries from almost 100 top-tier brands in more than a dozen categories.

Recognizing tools and fasteners that offer outstanding quality and innovation, PTIA finalists and winners are evaluated by a panel of experts, professionals and industry veterans.

"The Pro Tool Innovation Awards exist to honor the best of the best," said Clint DeBoer, general manager for the PTIA. “We are thrilled to see the level of innovation this year, especially with so much stiff competition. This awards program continues to showcase the cutting edge of product development, and each winner truly exemplifies what the awards stand for.”

SPAX POWERTRIM Finishing Trim Screws were named a winner in the the category of Fasteners – Screws, Wood. Designed for attaching wood, composites and PVC trim boards in residential interior and exterior applications.

The POWERTRIM screws feature a unique 4CUT point that drives easily into wood, composites and PVC without pre-drilling and without damaging the material. A  T-STAR plus drive within the head provides secure bit engagement.

In addition, POWERTRIM screws feature patented thread serrations and a reverse double thread designed specifically for PVC, pulling shavings back into the hole to eliminate bulging and pigtails for a more professional, flush finish.

“Recognition from the Pro Tool Innovation Awards for POWERTRIM screws highlights the innovation SPAX brings to specialty fastening applications,” said Robert Knecht, senior marketing manager for SPAX. “POWERTRIM screws provide contractors with a smarter alternative to nails and adhesives, combining clean aesthetics with excellent performance.”

Also recognized as a finalist in the Concrete Anchors category was the TRUFAST Thermal-Grip Masonry Veneer Anchor.

TRUFAST's innovative MVA effectively addresses thermal bridging, air and water hold-out challenges while providing labor savings. It provides a reliable solution for anchoring veneer through continuous insulation, maintaining air barrier integrity and thermal efficiency.

TRUFAST Thermal-Grip Masonry Veneer Anchor was recognized as a finalist in the Concrete category.

“Being named a PTIA finalist for our Thermal-Grip Masonry Veneer anchor underscores TRUFAST’s dedication to solving real-world construction challenges,” said Jason Wigboldy, TRUFAST Walls president. “The Thermal Grip MVA offers trade pros a smarter and more efficient way to anchor brick veneer through continuous insulation.”

Featuring a barrel-style design with a polycarbonate tube that eliminates steel-on-steel contact between the wire tie and screw, the TRUFAST Thermal-Grip MVA anchors significantly reduce thermal bridging.

Self-drilling screws simplify installation, while the wire tie design allows for fast, straightforward assembly in the field.

Optional seismic clips enhance code compliance in seismic zones and redundant fire safety features retain the wire in the event of a fire within the wall cavity.

The TRUFAST  Thermal-Grip MVA anchors tube’s wedge-seal feature helps seal the blind penetration of the air and water barrier behind insulation, preserving long-term building envelope performance.
