Festool Introduces First-Ever Soft Foam Abrasive
Festool unveiled its first-ever soft foam abrasive, developed for surface preparation on complex shapes.

Based on the brand's GRANAT abrasives, GRANAT PROfile brings Festool's precision and durability to detailed work intended to be the go-to solution for finishers, woodworkers, and painters who demand control, flexibility, and exceptional surface quality.
"Festool has long championed premium abrasives that match the performance of our line of sanders," said Rick Bush, senior product marketing manager at Festool. "After all, the sandpaper is what touches the surface, so it must be right. And now we have a solution engineered to tackle intricate detail-based sanding such as moldings, carvings, crevices, and other odd-shapes."
He said the new abrasives are ideal for painters and woodworkers tackling detailed prep work on moldings, trim, raised panels, contoured edges, and turn elements. Optimized for use with sanding power tools, this abrasive excels where traditional flat abrasives can't.
Features of the GRANAT PROfile abrasives include:
- Conforming to complex surfaces: The 1/2 inch (13 mm) layer of soft foam backing molds to contours, edges, and profiles, making it ideal for moldings, spindles, raised panels, and decorative details. The system delivers aggressive sanding power while conforming effortlessly to contours, curves, and profiles
- Premium performance: Festool GRANAT abrasives are known for delivering fast, consistent results and the PROfile lives up to the same standard results across a wide range of materials and coatings.
- Built for today's finishes: From tough clear coats to delicate surfaces, GRANAT PROfile delivers smooth, professional results on hard-to finish areas like wood, paint, plastics, acrylics, and fillers.
- Sized right for every tool, every application: Available in 5 sizes, 5-inch, 6-inch, 3-inch by 5-inch rectangle shape, 4 inch by 6-inch delta shape and 3 inch by 4 inch.
Starting November 13, 2025, all sizes of the GRANAT PROfile will be available ranging from $20.00 to $32.00. There are three grit levels, medium, fine and superfine, available in the five different pad shapes.
There will also be mixed packs available for each size with varying grit levels.
