Following a planned succession process, Chris Macey, a 30-year industry veteran who recently served as company COO, is taking the helm as president and chief executive officer.

“I am honored to lead USG at such a pivotal moment,” Macey said.  “Having spent 20 years with this company and three decades in this industry, I know that our customer-first culture is our greatest strength. My focus is on maintaining our momentum and ensuring we stay the course on the strategy that has made us an industry leader.”

During his two decades at USG, Macey has held leadership roles in every major North American division, including serving as president of USG’s Gypsum division and leading the company’s Canadian (CGC) and Latin American (USG LATAM) businesses.

Macey takes over the role of president from Christopher Griffin, who will remain as CEO Emeritus through June 30, 2026.

“It’s been the honor of my career to lead USG and work alongside such talented people,” Griffin said. “With Chris Macey at the helm, I know the company’s future is in excellent hands.”

In another leadership move, Mike Toole was welcomed back to the company s vice president ceiling sales.

Toole had previously spent 21 years at USG before a five-year leadership tenure at Grabber Construction Products.

“Coming back to USG feels like a homecoming,” Toole said. “I have always been proud of USG’s commitment to quality and its customer-first culture. I look forward to leading this team as we strengthen our partnerships and drive the ceilings business into its next chapter of growth.”

As vice president, ceiling sales, Toole will lead the commercial strategy for USG’s ceilings business, focusing on strengthening customer partnerships and driving growth for core brands including Sheetrock, Durock, and Donn Grid.
