Measuring: DEWALT Laser Distance Measures

DEWALT announces two new laser distance measurers – models DW03050 and DW03101.

The DW03050 laser distance measurer offers users a range of up to 165 feet with an accuracy of +/- 1/16 inch. It features a function to automatically calculate rectangular area and volume to make job estimates quick and easy. A Pythagorean Theorem function allows the DW03050 to calculate indirect height even when point A and/or B are not accessible for linear measurements.

Built-in memory stores the last five measurements taken by the user, reducing the time spent logging measurements. For further convenience, when using in dim or bright conditions, the DW03050 touts a backlit display with two lines of text.

The DW03050 also boasts an over-molded housing that has an IP65 water/debris resistance rating and has been drop tested from 6 feet. The DW03050 will be available in the independent channel in October 2013. It will retail for approximately $139.99.

The DW03101 laser distance measurer (shown) provides a range of up to 330 feet and an accuracy of +/- 1/32 inch. In addition to rectangular area and volume calculations, the DW03101 has the capability to calculate triangular areas. The built-in inclinometer allows the LDM to calculate continuous height and to measure indirect horizontal distances.

Global Product Manager Spencer Maheu explained, “If a user wanted to measure to a wall but a desk was in the way, they would simply need to measure to the desk, and then pivot the LDM to a higher point on the wall.” The inclinometer will compute the distance to the wall. The continuous height function allows a user to measure from the bottom of an object, pivoting the LDM, to the top. The DW03101 also has the built in
Pythagorean Theorem function.

The back lit display features three lines of text and the memory is able to store up to 20 measurements taken by the user. A multi-functional end piece folds out both 90 and 180 degrees. The 90 degree position is used when measuring from an edge and the 180 degree position is used when measuring from a corner. It’s over molded housing has been drop tested from 6 feet and has an IP65 water/debris resistance rating. Launching October 2013, the DW030101 will retail for approximately $299.99 in the independent channel.

DEWALT laser distance measurers come complete with a 3-1-90 warranty. They have a 3 year limited warranty, one year of free service, and a 90 day money back guarantee.
