Franklin International's new PROvantage line of VOC-compliant solvent-based adhesives now includes the industry's first-ever solvent-based adhesives that do not etch foamboard and plastic tub surrounds.

The new PROvantage line of construction adhesives stands out as the industry's first full line of VOC-compliant, solvent-based construction adhesives. The line includes eight adhesives that, together, meet the range of bonding applications on the construction site and at home.

Three of the eight adhesives are first-of-their-kind – the first VOC-compliant, solvent-based adhesives developed specifically for use on wood, foamboard and tub surrounds. The formulas for foamboard and tub surrounds merit special note: as the first-ever solvent-based adhesives that do not "etch" foamboard and plastic tub surrounds, they represent a giant technological leap in the adhesives industry.

"Typical solvents used in adhesives tend to damage plastic tub surrounds and foamboard," explains Franklin marketing director Craig Stone. "But PROvantage is not your conventional solvent-based adhesive. Its highly unique, propriety formulation makes it safe for use with these substrates – and for the environment. At the same time, it delivers all of the preferred performance characteristics of conventional solvent-based adhesives, such as fast-grab, cold-weather extrusion and consistent cure time."

PROvantage adhesives offer a VOC content of less than 50 g/L and meet even the strictest state, regional or federal VOC regulations. They also rely substantially less on oil derivatives. This, and the unique technology and proprietary manufacturing processes behind PROvantage, enable Franklin to reduce production costs – and save contractors 10 percent or more on the typical cost of VOC-compliant, solvent-based construction adhesives.
