Rockler Woodworking and Hardware has introduced a new type of decorative hinge for jewelry cabinets and other small upright cases that increases storage space and expands display possibilities.
With the Rockler Decorative Tandem Door Hinge Set, two doors can be mounted in a cabinet, one behind the other, with 1-1/4" of space in between. The additional space provides hanging storage or, with a glass-panel outer door, visibility for displaying special items.
"These hinges are ideal for jewelry armoires," said Steve Krohmer, Rockler's vice president of merchandising and product development, "but they can add style and storage to decorative cases used for holding collections of fishing flies, pipes, watches or whatever."
The brass-plated zinc hinges, which have a polished finish to match the wide array of available small cabinet hardware, are designed to work with 1/2" thick doors and can be mounted on either side of the cabinet. They come with matching mounting screws and two magnets and stops that are installed in the cabinet to keep the doors closed.
Illustrated instructions are included with the hinges, and a downloadable free plan for a jewelry cabinet that incorporates the hinges is available at www.rockler.com/jewelryboxplan.
The Rockler Decorative Tandem Door Hinge Set (55198) is priced at $29.99 and can be purchased at Rockler.com or at Rockler Woodworking and Hardware stores nationwide, as well as through the Rockler catalog. For store locations or a free catalog, visit www.rockler.com or call 1-877-ROCKLER.
