Streamlight® Inc., a leading manufacturer of high-performance flashlights introduced the Survivor Pivot®, an intrinsically safe, right-angle LED flashlight, featuring both spot and flood beams, a 90-degree articulating head and an easy-to-use push-button switch to control lighting modes.
The versatile rechargeable light, which has multiple power options, is rated for use in Class 1, Division 1 environments faced by many industrial workers, first responders and other professionals. The light is also available in a model that is ATEX and IECEx-certified for use in Zone 0 locations.
The Survivor Pivot features a forward-facing LED spot beam for distance illumination and a flood beam that is angled downward for close-up work. The two beams can be used individually or at the same time to create an uninterrupted light pattern that delivers 325 lumens, while optimizing navigation and eliminating blind spots that can lead to slips, trips and falls.
Its heavy-duty clip securely attaches to gear for hands-free use and its optional removable magnet with 30-pound pull strength can be used to attach the light to metal surfaces.
“The Survivor Pivot is a safe, powerful right-angle light for personnel who work in potentially explosive or hazardous environments,” said Streamlight Chief Revenue Officer Michael F. Dineen. “Whether using the flood mode for lighting an emergency scene, or the spot LED when conducting close-up inspections, this light is the perfect addition to any toolbox of intrinsically safe equipment. And it features a multi-fuel design, giving users the option of recharging via its Li-Ion battery pack, or using a Streamlight SL-B26® USB-rechargeable battery or AA alkaline batteries, depending on needs or budgets.”
In spot mode, the light’s custom optic produces a narrow beam, ideal for cutting through smoke, fog and mist, while also providing optimum peripheral illumination to aid in navigation. On the flood setting, a unique bias reflector provides maximum area illumination.
The Survivor Pivot offers high and low brightness levels. Its large translucent rubber dome push-button switch with battery status indicator provides easy control of intensity and mode settings, even with gloved hands.
In spot mode, the new light delivers up to 300 lumens and 34,000 candela over a 369-meter beam distance. In flood mode, it provides up to 300 lumens, 300 candela and a beam distance of 35 meters. With both beams combined, the light shines over 276 meters, offering 325 lumens and 19,000 candela.
The Survivor Pivot operates on a 2.6Ahr Li-Ion battery pack that is rechargeable up to 1,000 times; it fully recharges in 5 hours with 120/230V AC systems. The light also permits technicians and first responders to use a Streamlight SL-B26 USB rechargeable battery pack or three AA alkaline batteries to reduce the likelihood of being caught in the dark with a spent battery. (The ATEX model’s safety approval does not apply when the SL-B26 battery is in use.)
Operating run times when using the Li-Ion battery pack or SL-B26 battery pack range from 3.75 hours on High to 16 hours on Low. When using alkaline batteries, the run times range from 4.5 hours on High to 15 hours on Low.
The light’s casing, base and battery housing are made from super-tough polymer offering exceptional durability. Its heavy-duty, spring-loaded clip with a built-in attachment D-ring offers superior retention, conveniently latching to belts and harnesses and other gear and reducing unwanted rotation. Measuring 7.93 inches high, the Survivor Pivot has a weight that ranges from 15.8 ounces to 17.6 ounces depending on whether the magnet is attached, and the type of battery used.
All openings are O-ring sealed to resist moisture, including the light’s unbreakable polycarbonate lens with silicone anti-scratch coating, assembled in a heavy-duty bezel. The light has an IP67 dust-tight and waterproof design and is impact resistance-tested to 2 meters.
The Survivor Pivot is available in safety orange or high-visibility yellow. It has an MSRP that ranges from $148.00 to $341.00 depending on the model and comes with Streamlight’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.
