Little Beaver offers economical solutions for Geotechnical Drilling applications. The company’s Big Beaver Auger Drill Rig and standard hydraulic earth drills can be paired with a variety of kits and accessories to ensure efficiency, precision and accuracy on applications including Soil Penetration Test (SPTs) and core and soil sampling.
Featuring 2,500-pounds of lifting capacity and the ability to drill a 6” diameter hole up to 100 feet deep, the Big Beaver is ideal for geotechnical drilling. Though powerful and versatile, it’s also compact and portable, the perfect drill for limited access drilling.
Paired with Little Beaver’s Cathead Kit (SSK-1), the Big Beaver performs soil sampling, and SPTs quickly and efficiently. The SSK-1 consists of a tower kit, third hydraulic valve and steel cat head. Additionally, the kit enables the Big Beaver to take undisturbed samples with the optional Split Spoon Sampler. Safely and securely driven into the ground with a 140-pound Safety Hammer, the Split Spoon Sampler is able to take core samples up to 24 inches in depth.
The Big Beaver can also be equipped with Hollow Stem Augers, which are designed to prevent contamination from loose surface soils. Built for speed and durability, the ultra-light Hollow Stem Augers enable quick collection of clean samples for SPTs. The augers are available in 6- and 8-inch diameters, and can drill up to 32 feet deep.
In addition to the Big Beaver’s capabilities, soil sampling and geophysical work can be completed with Little Beaver’s standard Hydraulic Earth Drill and Tripod Kit. With a powerful hydraulic drive and 11-hp engine, the Hydraulic drill operates efficiently and effectively, even in the toughest soil conditions. The kit enables the unit to achieve controlled drilling with augers up to 4 inches in diameter, and provides easy, smooth lifting of samples up to 35 feet deep. Samples can be collected as they come out of the ground or withdrawn from the auger using an optional hand-sampling tool. The kit includes a hand winch for fast, easy set up.
