Cables & Lighting: LE EcoSmart Light Tower

LE introduces the XLE18-M EcoSmart Light Tower engineered for brilliant, efficient lighting. Emitting 4,000 watts of light over 7 acres of ground, the light is ideal for large construction operations and mining, roadwork and disaster relief sites.

“LE’s EcoSmart Light Tower is engineered to meet the demands of large work sites,” said Ron Sheldon, senior vice president, sales and business development for Light Engineering. “The tower not only provides adjustable, powerful lighting, but it’s also cost-efficient and compact, making it a smart investment and easily transportable.”

LE’s XLE18-M EcoSmart Light Towers provide a cost-effective lighting solution. Four 1,000-watt metal halide lamps provide brilliant Color Rendering Index (CRI) white light. The nine meter tower rotates 360 degrees for precise, adaptable lighting wherever it’s needed. Up to seven acres of ground can be lit by the towers.

The durable mast is wind-resistant, while the spring chassis reduces vibration and five outriggers offer exceptional stability and balance. With LE’s Light Tower, work doesn’t have to stop when the sun goes down.

The combination of LE’s 8-kW generator and the 14-kW engine allow the light tower to provide big power in a small package. A compact package also makes transporting the light tower simple. At only 60-inches wide and 91-inches long, the XLE18-M Light Tower can be towed or trucked into any jobsite. Once on the site, it’s quick to set up by lowering the support legs, unfolding and raising the mast and starting it up.

With the two 120/240V sockets, the need for additional generators to supply power for equipment is minimized. The tower’s metal halide lights are the fastest growing segment in the lighting industry and one of the most efficient sources of high CRI white light, meaning they emit natural-looking, vibrant light.

“The efficiency of the Light Tower is seen in its ability to run for about 60 hours, while the reduction in fuel is roughly 30 percent compared to other lights,” explained Sheldon.

Safety and protection were two engineering priorities in designing the Light Tower. The control box can withstand harsh water pressure and prevents dust from interfering with effective operation, protecting the tower from the demands of the worksite. Wide cabinet doors make routine maintenance and service easily accessible, as well. The automatic break holds the load in position when the handle is released, and the self-locking winch does not freewheel, which is ideal for raising and lowering the mast.

LE’s XLE18-M EcoSmart Light Towers are covered by a three-year warranty on the generator and two-year warranty on other components.
