Portable Electric Tools: Makita XMT035 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Multi-Tool

Makita has released a new 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Multi-Tool Kit (model XMT035) with tool-less accessory change and longer run time than the previous model. The XMT035 is engineered for fast cutting, sanding, scraping and grout removal, and is ideal for a full range of trades.
“Trades of all kinds are turning to oscillating multi-tools for a full range of applications,” said Mario Lopez, product manager, cordless tools. “With the new XMT035, contractors get corded power and performance, reduced vibration and lower noise, and the convenience of tool-less accessory change.”
Corded Speed and Power without the Cord
The 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Multi-Tool (XMT035) delivers up to 20 minutes of run time with Makita’s fast-charging 18V LXT Lithium-Ion battery.
The variable speed control dial (6,000 – 20,000 OPM) and soft start feature enable the user to match the speed to the application with more control, and the 3.2 degree oscillation angle is engineered for faster, more aggressive cutting and sanding.
The XMT035 features an L.E.D. light to illuminate the work area, a small diameter barrel grip for improved handling, a large on/off slide switch with lock-on button, and adapters to fit most competitive accessories.
A battery capacity warning system turns on an indicator light and is engineered to automatically stop the motor to notify the user when it’s time to recharge the battery.
Star Protection Computer Controls
For improved tool performance and extended battery life, the XMT035 features Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating.
