The Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association (STAFDA) is working with Barry Brandman of Danbee Investigations to create a new STAFDA Security Manual. Set for release in spring, the Manual will include chapters on evaluating exposure to internal theft, the seven deadly sins of security, common mistakes when purchasing video systems, controlling theft by company drivers, what every CEO should know about white collar crime and much more.

All STAFDA members will receive one free copy of the Security Manual with additional copies available for a nominal charge. This book joins STAFDA’s series of workbooks, which include Creating an Attractive Showroom, the Disaster Preparedness Manual,
Foundations of a Business and Sales Pro.

World of Concrete Hospitality Party
Don’t forget to include STAFDA in your World of  Concrete plans. The Association will hold a hospitality party for members and potential members, Tuesday, January 18, at the Renaissance Las Vegas hotel (adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Center) from 5:30-7:00 p.m. It’s a great chance to talk to peers, learn a bit more about STAFDA, as well as enjoy a beverage and hors d’oeuvres.

University of Industrial Distribution
Registration is now open for the University of Industrial Distribution (UID) program at Indiana University Purdue University in Indianapolis (IUPUI), March 7-10. STAFDA, along with nearly 30 other hard-goods associations, co-sponsor the four-day management school as an intensive educational experience for members. STAFDA members receive a discounted admission fee.

Participants may choose from more than 20 separate courses (including several new classes) to create their own curriculum. Classes are taught by recognized industry experts, including STAFDA consultants Dr. Al Bates, Tom Reilly and Jon Schreibfeder, as well as Joe Ellers, Dr. Bill McCleave, Pete Land, Dr. John Monoky, Tim Underhill and Dr. Kathy Newton, among others.

More than 300 attendees are expected including CEOs, branch managers, inventory managers, purchasing agents, administrators, sales & marketing and manufacturer personnel. The school covers a variety of distribution issues and is not restricted to the
industrial channel. UID is open to all STAFDA membership categories. For more information or to register, visit www.univid.org.
