Atlas Copco to Open New Distribution Center in Charlotte

New Distribution Center ensures next day delivery on thousands of items for the North America market.

Atlas Copco will open in May 2010 a new 131,000 sq.-ft. national distribution center in Charlotte, N.C., for the distribution of products under the Atlas Copco, BeaconMedæs, Desoutter and Chicago Pneumatic brands.

The new distribution center will be located at the Westlake Corporate Campus in Charlotte. The new facility is forecasted to process 476,000 orders annually and an average of more than 1,000 parcels per day. This custom-fitted facility will become the central distribution point for a wide variety of compressors, medical gas equipment and industrial and vehicle service tools, as well as thousands of spare parts. This increased parts capacity means our customers in North America can now receive 24-hour delivery on all stocked parts.

"From this new facility our aim is to supply 100 percent of the spare parts required for the products we service in North America," said Paul Hense, President of Atlas Copco Compressors LLC. "This investment of approximately $6 million over the next seven years shows our commitment to the North American market and especially to the Charlotte area."

Atlas Copco Compressors, BeaconMedæs, Chicago Pneumatic and Desoutter's North American headquarters, including the manufacturing facility for Atlas Copco portable and stationary compressors as well as compressors for the many multi-brands within Atlas Copco, and BeaconMedaes will remain in Rock Hill, S.C.
