Big Iron Expands Services With Focus Auctions And Entry Into Two New Territories

Extends services into Minnesota and Illinois; hires new district managers.

www.bigiron.comBig Iron, the Midwest’s fastest growing unreserved online auction service, announces the expansion of services with two Focus Auctions. Along with providing the additional, specialized auctions in August and September, the company is also extending its services into the states of Minnesota and Illinois. Both moves exemplify Big Iron’s continued success as a growing online auction service provider and further the company’s drive to offer its unique web-based auction format to new areas.

The first of the two focused auctions, a franchise dealer focus auction, is set for Aug. 31. The event is aimed at helping franchise dealers reduce inventory, and will provide an opportunity to reach a much larger customer base with minimal investment. Listing deadline is July 28, and listings will be limited to franchise dealers only. Bidding will be open to both the public and dealers. Always looking to provide additional opportunities for valued customers, Big Iron President Mark Stock identified how the opportunity came about to host an additional auction in August.

“Big Iron always holds bi-monthly online auctions on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, giving us the opportunity to offer two auctions per month. But we realized, this year, August has one additional Wednesday,” he explained. “We looked at it as an opportunity to provide a bonus event to benefit our franchise dealers.”

Ron Stock, Big Iron CEO, further elaborated, “Dealers are a friend of Big Iron. They are telling us that they have too much used inventory. We have been conducting dealer auctions for more than 20 years and understand the high level of service that the dealers are expecting. One of the ways we deliver that superior service is in the way we market dealer owned equipment world wide”.

The second of the two focus auctions, a construction equipment auction, will exclusively showcase construction equipment and target the large base of construction outfits in the Big Iron territories. The auction will take place Sept. 21, and the listing deadline is Aug. 18. According to Ron Stock, similarly to the franchise dealer focus auction, the construction equipment focus auction will provide an additional opportunity for Big Iron’s valued construction equipment customers to both buy and sell.

“We saw an opportunity to better service our customers with both these niche auction events,” he said. “The relationships we have with our dealer and construction equipment customers are extremely valuable to us, and we strive to be sure they are seeing substantial results from us. These added events are meant to do just that.”

Vern Jenson, district manager, Minnesota, for Big Iron.

In addition to offering the specialized auctions, Big Iron has expanded its geographic footprint to provide seller service in Minn. and Ill., and has hired two new district managers. Newly-appointed district manager for Minn., Vern Jenson, is no stranger to the construction and agriculture equipment industries, having previously worked as a dealership manager for Bobcat. He is currently in the process of hiring territory managers, and has begun establishing the Big Iron name in the state.

“Minnesota is a brand new market for Big Iron and I’m confident it will be very well-received,” Jenson said. “I feel there’s great potential on both the green [agricultural] and yellow [construction] equipment sides.”

A 30-year veteran of the agriculture industry, Roger Sanders has been appointed district manager for Ill. In addition to agricultural equipment, Sanders is also well-versed in fleet vehicles, having spent the last three years in the trucking industry. With a breadth of knowledge in the industries most prevalent in Ill., he feels his understanding of the market will help him establish Big Iron in the state, a state he feels will be very welcoming of the company and its services.

“There’s such a need for machinery in Illinois right now and Big Iron has the strategies in place to effectively serve those needs,” Sanders explained. “This is going to be win-win for the equipment-oriented businesses in the state, as well as the company [Big Iron].”
