International Hardware Fair Names 2012 Best Tools of Show

Top new tool awards go to Gedore, Knipex and Rhodius.

The International Hardware Fair Cologne, underway this week in Germany, has announced the winners of the EISEN 2012 awards for product innovation. The best of the best innovations and new products of the year were honored on the first evening of the fair during the welcome party with the announcement of the “EISEN 2012” winners. Koelnmesse and the Central Hardware Trade Association (ZHH) jointly awarded the “EISEN 2012” innovation prize for the top tools, industrial supplies and fastening systems.

And the winners are…

The Gedore Dremaster DMK 200
(Gedore Tool Center KG, Hall 10.1., A1): The adjustable tubular torque wrench with square box profile and integrated ratchet for controlled right and left tightening has a selectable scale for torque units.

In contrast to standard tools, only one torque unit is displayed at any time, thus totally ruling out any reading error.

The KNIPEX Twin Force (KNIPEX-Werk C. Gustav Putsch KG, Hall 10.1, D4): The power side-cutter with its patented double-joint design offers an extremely high transmission ratio enabling cutting work to be performed with significantly reduced effort. At the same time, the cutting impact is damped so that tension in the muscles is released gently and not suddenly. Fifty percent less effort compared with power side-cutters of the same size represents top performance.

The Rhodius LD403 All in one cutting disk (Rhodius Schleifwerkzeuge GmbH & Co.KG, Hall 10.2. B1): Up until now, cutting slits in walls involved arduously chiselling out the middle support and the removal of the rubble. The LD 403 All in one cuts and removes the middle support in one go, cutting work time by as much as 45 per cent. The three permanently interlinked diamond disks form a powerful system that cuts tooling times considerably.
