DBM to launch new magazine
New publication and website will focus on distributors and dealers that rent construction equipment and tools.
Direct Business Media, a specialty niche media services provider covering the industrial and construction markets, is pleased to announce the launch of Pro Contractor Rentals magazine.
The premier issue will be published in January 2014, and its accompanying website and e-mail newsletter will debut in the fall of 2013. Known as “The Resource for Businesses Renting to Contractors,” the publication and website will serve a niche audience of distributors and dealers of a wide variety of rental equipment and tools used by professional contractors.
Rick Monogue, a 33-year veteran of business-to-business publishing, will serve as publisher of Pro Contractor Rentals, and Dave Wolff, who has more than 35 years of experience as an editor and photojournalist, has been named editor of the magazine.
“Pro Contractor Rentals magazine will feature a tightly focused editorial that will address the day-to-day needs of the independent rental center and dealer/distributor whose primary focus is contractor rentals,” said Monogue.
The magazine will also feature articles about professional contractors who rent tools and equipment from rental centers, profiles of independent reps that serve the rental equipment market, and other news and information focused on the unique business needs of this market segment. It will be supported by advertising from manufacturers that target rental centers to provide their product to professional tool and equipment users.
“Our audience will consist of dealers/distributors and other independent rental businesses that are engaged in contractor rentals, plus independent manufacturer reps,” Monogue added.
Monogue has served in a variety of roles in the business-to-business publishing industry, rising from a regional sales manager, to national sales manager and eventually being named publisher at Cygnus Business Media of Yard & Garden magazine and Green Industry Pro magazine, focused on the landscaping industry. He has also been involved in developing custom publications and websites for manufacturers and trade associations.
Wolff has extensive experience in the publishing industry, serving as editor of a variety of publications in several markets, including construction, transportation, industrial and turf maintenance. Previous employers include Cygnus Business Media, Randall Publishing, Northbrook Publishing and The Business Journal of Milwaukee.
Based in Fort Atkinson, Wis., DBM publishes Industrial Supply and Contractor Supply magazines, the Specialty Tools and Fasteners Distributors Association’s STAFDA Member Directory and the Industrial Supply Association’s ISA Annual Membership Directory, and IDC Industrial Review, which is published on behalf of the distributor cooperative IDC-USA.
“At a time when other publishing companies are announcing staff reductions and discontinuing publications, we’re excited to be able to announce the launch of Pro Contractor Rentals,” said Bob Stange, a co-owner of Direct Business Media, which was founded in 2009 by Stange and his partners Chris McClimon, Rich Vurva, Linda Scott-McCabe and Tom Hammel.
“We’re pleased to be adding Rick Monogue and Dave Wolff to our growing staff,” added McClimon. “They are highly capable individuals with a great deal of knowledge and experience in the publishing industry in a variety of publishing platforms, from print to electronic.”
