A Perfect Storm for Health Care Construction
Skanska USA SVP predicts coming boom in health care projects.
Skanska USA has won a $149 million contract to build a 12-story, 645,800-square-foot specialty building at the Stamford Hospital campus in Connecticut.
"There's a huge amount of opportunity in the health care system overall and that has to do with not only the potential change coming through the [Affordable Care Act], but pent up demand and the aging of America," said Skanska's Senior Vice President Andrew Quirk. "So it's almost like a perfect storm on the real estate side for what's coming in the system."
