Mid Continent founder to retire

David Libla will step down on December 31, 2014.


Mid Continent Steel & Wire, Inc. has announced the retirement of its founder & CEO, David Libla, effective December 31, 2014.

Mid Continent Steel & Wire, Inc. has announced the retirement of its founder & CEO, David Libla, effective December 31, 2014.

He will be replaced by 20 year veteran of Deacero Mexico, Fernando Villanueva. Mr. Villanueva assumed his new position as CEO on September 15, 2014 and has been working with Mr. Libla until his departure.

Mr Villanueva began his career with Deacero as the Sr. Manager of Logistics in 1994, and from 1996 thru 2008 was the Wire Facilities Director responsible for the operation of two wire drawing facilities at Saltillo, Coahuila, with a 20,000 ton per month capacity and more than 600 employees.

From 2008 until this current reassignment he was the Corporate Logistics and Procurement Vice President. He has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, graduating with Honors.

Following his retirement Mr. Libla will remain on the Company’s Board of Directors. The experienced staff formed under the leadership of Mr. Libla will remain at Mid Continent Steel & Wire, Inc. d.b.a. Mid Continent Nail Corporation, including his son, Jeff Libla, as General Manager, and his daughter, Marsha Libla, as Inside Sales / Customer Service Manager for the company’s sales team.
