Wrapping-up its 90th year of service, the Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) elected a new president and a slate of new officers for the upcoming year. Announced at the association’s annual fall meeting held in Miami this October, the newly-elected officers will begin their term during the 2016 BHMA Spring Committee Week.

Dan Picard, director of innovation at ASSA ABLOY Americas, will succeed Scott James, president and CEO of CompX International, as president of the association. Those officers elected to BHMA include:

  • Patricia Yulkowski, CEO of Total Door Systems, who will serve as first vice president;
  • John Cringole, key product and market sales manager at Overhead Door Corporation, who will serve as second vice president; and
  • Mark Bloom, vice president of engineering at Spectrum Brands, who will serve as third vice president.

“The new slate of officers will convene in person for the first time in April of next year to discuss the impact of technology on our industry; the resulting need for increased speed in standard development; and the next steps for both our sustainable and residential programs, among other things,” said Ralph Vasami, executive director of BHMA.

“The success of our association over the last 90 years we can attribute to leaders like Dan, Patricia, John, Mark and Scott. We look forward to drawing from their expertise as we move forward on several new projects and initiatives during the upcoming year.”

The Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) is an industry leader in building safety and security. BHMA is the only organization accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to develop and maintain performance standards for locks, closers, exit devices and other builders hardware.
