STAFDA names 2017 convention State-of-the-Industry speaker
Joe Smith of Metabo will deliver address to STAFDA convention audience in Austin, Texas.
The Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association (STAFDA) has announced Joe Smith, President and CEO, Metabo Power Tools, North America, West Chester, PA, will present the Associate State-of-the-Industry address at STAFDA’s General Session, Monday, November 13, during its 41st Annual Convention & Trade Show in Austin, TX, November 12-14.
Metabo has been manufacturing and distributing German-engineered and manufactured, premium quality power tools and accessories for the worldwide industrial market since 1924. Key products include metalworking tools such as grinders, concrete drilling — dust collection and surface preparation tools — along with cordless tools and power tool accessories. Metabo has been a STAFDA member since 1977.
Smith’s 28 years of sales, marketing/product development, and senior management experience includes positions with Bosch and Milwaukee Electric Tool. He continues to be an active participant in the “Cordless Tool Revolution,” which is ongoing, playing a leading role in the development of the first lithium ion battery platform for high voltage applications. Smith will offer his perspectives on the future direction of the power tool industry and its impact on the industrial/construction channel.
He earned an MBA from Benedictine University, Lisle, IL, and a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Purdue University, W. Lafayette, IN. He lives with his wife of 33 years, Ginny, in Charlotte, NC, where two of his four children, and three of his four grandchildren also reside.
