Prebena updates fastener market availability

Ulrich Wicke reviews the current market trends in monthy newsletter.

The following is the letter from Prebena General manager Ulrich Wicke to customers for May, 2020.

Dear Customers and Friends,

I think we all wish for a safe and secure ending of the “Corona-Virus” and the consequential crisis all over the world. Still at our “home office” in Germany, my wife and I are waiting for news from Washington, DC to return and resume normal working back in West Virginia.

Somewhat influenced by the worldwide crisis, the predicament with staples covered by the anti- dumping ruling is tense. Many warehouses are empty and replacement stock is taking longer to receive or is not even readily available. Due to the high tariffs, imports from China have dropped significantly, some are replaced by imports from Vietnam and Malaysia – most of the other (new) mills don’t seem to be operational yet.

At PREBENA, we have the following answers:

  • We are stocked at our WV warehouse and still have about all products available.
  • We produce what is missing – our average lead time for productions up to a pallet is 2.58 working days!
  • We source from PREBENA Germany and just recently...
  • We started producing at the plant of an European PREBENA Partner!

After testing the PREBENA Partner products in our German QM Department, we ordered the first containers of PREBENA L-type (similar to Senco N) and PREBENA GX-type (similar to Paslode GS16). We will stock these qualities in WV as a low-cost alternative to our own US production.

We also encourage direct shipments in full container loads with the option and advantage to mix and match with other staples and finish nails from PREBENA Germany. The first containers ordered had a delivery time to West Virginia in about 7 to 8 weeks.

Please take advantage of this new possibility and inquire!

Stay healthy and safe!
Ulrich Wicke
