Hillman Group to Build 450,000-square-foot Multi-Use Facility in Georgia
Facility will employ 250 associates, including 50 new hires.
The Hillman Companies, Inc. (HLMN) broke ground on a new distribution center for its Protective Solutions division which comprises flagship brands like Firm Grip and AWP. Nearly 200 employees, including 50 new hires, will call the new Shannon, Ga.-based facility home.
Currently, Hillman operates three separate facilities in Rome, Smyrna and Adairsville, Ga. The expansion will combine the entire operation under one roof for increased efficiencies.
The Hillman Group will receive a 10-year tax abatement package for the development of the new facility, with a 100 percent abatement the first year and decreasing by 10 percent each subsequent year.
“The city of Rome and Fulton County have been tremendous partners throughout the years, and we are proud to be a part of this vibrant and growing community,” said Frank Stephens, vice president of supply chain and distribution at Hillman Solutions. “The new facility will allow us to better serve our retailers while creating a more cohesive setting for the entire team.”
The new design-to-suit distribution center will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2022. This new expansion announcement comes shortly after Hillman completed an expansion of their state-of-the-art distribution center in Jacksonville, FL that increased in size by more than 100,000 sq. ft. and added numerous artificial intelligence automation systems and technological upgrades.
