McCloskey International Welcomes Saracakis Group of Companies

New partnership will benefit customers in the region by providing a full complement of sales and aftermarket solutions.

The Saracakis Group of Companies has joined the McCloskey Global Dealer Network, coinciding with the 100th anniversary milestone for the region’s premier distributor of equipment in the region.

Headquartered in Athens, Saracakis Group of Companies is a family business that has grown to nine companies with 20 international brands under management. The leading distributor in the region for Volvo Construction Equipment, Komatsu and Tadano, Saracakis Group of Companies will now add McCloskey equipment and services to their robust equipment portfolio.

Established in 1922 in Thessaloniki, Saracakis Group of Companies moved its corporate offices to Athens in 1941. In 1950 they became the exclusive importer and distributor of Volvo automotive products, followed by marine engines and construction equipment, maintaining a nearly 75-year relationship with the company and its customers. In 1962 the company entered further into the construction sector and signed on as a Komatsu distributor. Today, with over 500 employees and operations in four countries, Saracakis Group of Companies is well-positioned to serve customers in the region with a full complement of sales and aftermarket solutions.

The partnership is also enhanced by Saracakis Group of Companies’ stance on sustainability, which aligns with McCloskey’s approach. They are both working continually to ensure their programs and equipment demonstrating a responsibility to the earth’s natural resources, ensuring the preservation of the environment for future generations.

Offering McCloskey’s highly productive mobile crushers, screeners and stackers, many of which are hybrid (dual power) or electric, rounds out a robust product portfolio offered by Saracakis Group of Companies, as they work with customers on enhancing their business operations and production.

“We invest in long term relations with our customers and our equipment manufacturers, forging deep ties where variability and disruption is often the norm” said George Koukournesis, Brand Manager Komatsu. “These relationships create the base for our success. The current and future market will give us excellent opportunities to grow with McCloskey. We expect to see robust development in the next five years due to growth in the construction and infrastructure segments bolstered by the global economy showing signs of improvement.”

Toni Laaksonen, Senior Vice President, McCloskey International, noted that “having Saracakis Group of Companies join the McCloskey dealer network, strengthens further our global footprint. They are strategically positioned to serve the market as we move into high growth opportunities following the coronavirus pandemic. The demand for efficient, reliable, and durable machinery is what we anticipate that will contribute to the success in the marketplace.”

With their depth of history, industry knowledge and broad customer base, Saracakis Group of Companies is in a strong position to support the sales of McCloskey equipment in the region. Mr. Koukournesis concluded that “we anticipate strong growth, and McCloskey products will benefit both our companies, and our customers.”
