Simpson Strong-Tie Launches Strong-Drive SWD Double-Threaded Screws

Simpson Strong-Tie has extended its line of structural fasteners with the launch of the Strong-Drive SWD Double-Threaded screw.

Simpson Strong-Tie's Strong-Drive SWD Double-Threaded screw’s unique double-thread design with differentiated thread geometries and smooth mid-shank holds wood members together tightly.

The new fastener which can replace some interior and exterior connectors, potentially reducing installation times and labor costs.

Designed for stealth, strength and speed, the SWD Double-Threaded screw is a low-profile structural screw with a compact, cap-style head to reduce its visibility.

It is suitable for applications including beam-to-post, beam-to-joist, purlin-to-truss, guardrail-to-post and roof-to-wall connections; multi-ply assemblies; knee bracing; cap connector replacements; and post-frame connections.

“The Strong-Drive SWD Double-Threaded screw simplifies installation and provides greater performance at a lower installation cost than existing solutions,” said Eric Philip, product manager of fastening systems for Simpson Strong-Tie. “It’s ideal for a range of interior and exterior, wood-to-wood, engineered wood or preservative-treated wood connections in which the installer wants a low-profile structural fastening solution.”

The screw’s unique double-thread design with differentiated thread geometries and smooth mid-shank holds wood members together tightly. It features a black exterior double-barrier coating for corrosion resistance and a chisel tip for fast starts, easy driving at any angle and reduced splitting.

Code-approved, the SWD Double-Threaded screw is available in various lengths, from 2 1/2 inches to 10 3/4 inches.
