The continued expansion of the hand tools market is predominantly fueled by a global increase in construction projects, which boosts demand for such products. A wide array of hand tools is required to complete any construction project, no matter the size.

Combined with labor challenges, any potential shortage of hand tools can lead to significant delays and financial losses. More than ever, both contrators and manufactureres are turning toward the concept of a multi-purpose tool that can be utilized for various tasks. These manufacturers continue to be on the leading edge of design and versatility in this market.

WRIGHT TOOL

Wright Tool
Wright Tool leverages its patented innovations such as Wright Grip 2.0, Wright Drive 2.0 and Wright Square in developoment of any new products to increase efficiency and prevent accidents on the job.

One trend we are seeing is the increasing amount of electric impact guns on the market, which is causing greater wear and stress on the corners of sockets.

In response, Wright Tool is leveraging their previously developed patented Wright Square to address this issue.

“Traditional socket designs concentrate stress on the corners, increasing the likelihood of fractures under heavy loads,” says Tom Clark, director of quality assurance and product development for Wright Tool. “The Wright Square redistributes the stress away from the corners, offering enhanced durability and performance for users.”

He says Wright is committed to innovation through its patented Wright Grip 2.0, Wright Drive 2.0 and Wright Square, which are designed to reduce slippage and increase efficiency, helping to prevent accidents on the job and promote safety.

“These tools have a focus on professional safety and reliability,” Clark says. “We strive for ‘best-in-class’ for strength and durability, setting our tools apart with superior American-made quality.”

The advancements ensure that Wright Tool’s products are not only reliable but also increase productivity, meeting the high standards expected by professionals as the industry changes due to technological advancements and evolving user needs.

“By integrating advanced technology, we gain a deeper understanding of how our tools interact with other tools and attachments on the market, enabling us to refine and enhance our designs,” Clark says.

Wright implements rigorous quality inspections during the forging process to ensure its products meet the company’s high standards.

“Our attention to detail guarantees that every tool not only upholds our demands but also lasts 3 to 5 times longer than other tools, exceeding industry norms,” Clark says.

L.S. Starrett Company
The L.S. Starrett Company offers a series of hand tools including miter protractors, jaw cut nippers, pocket scribers and much more that are ideal for professionals in all building trades.

THE L.S. STARRETT COMPANY

Miter protractors are ideal for all building trades that require the measuring and transferring of angles. They take error-prone calculations out of the process of miter cuts. A miter cut scale transfers readings directly to the miter saw for miter joints.

Charlie Starrett, L.S. Starrett Company product manager, for saws and hand tools, says the 505P-7 7-inch Hardened Plastic miter protractor, part of Starrett’s ProSite 505 protractor family, is ideal for carpenters, plumbers and all building trades that require the measuring and transferring of angles, as well as being helpful for home use.

The series also includes the Starrett 12-inch Aluminum Combination protractor which provides 5-in-1 functionality with the ability to perform miter cuts, single cuts, act as a protractor or roof pitch, and offers a compound cut conversion table.

Starrett notes that the company’s utility knives are ideally suited for the professional contractor’s cutting requirements. The Starrett Exact Plus Hidden Edge-Retractable Blade utility knife has a trapezoidal blade that stays safely tucked away when not in use, and also works with hook blades.

“An easy-to-use safety lock and lever allows the blade to be exposed instantly,” Starrett says. In addition, the Starrett Exact Plus utility knives also include a folding knife with an aluminum die-cast body using a trapezoidal or hook blade.

He notes that Starrett jobsite hand tools also include pocket scribers, adjustable jaw cut nippers, screwdrivers and a series of punches.

According to Starrett, the pocket scribers feature a knurled and nickel-plated steel handle. The scriber point is finely tapered for precise positioning and a hexagon-shaped head prevents the tool from rolling.

Also, the jaw cut nippers include a heat-treated steel frame for strength and are recommended for all wire-cutting applications. He says Starrett screwdrivers include a jewelers’ version for relatively small, delicate work and models with precision-machined tips for top quality and exact fit.

Starrett notes that the company offers a series of punches including lightweight Automatic Center Punches with adjustable stroke and featuring a knurled aluminum handle for easy handling.
