Remembering Ronnie Mann

Former president of Mann Tool passed away on August 1, 2018.

Ronald “Ronnie” Mann, 74, former president of Mann Tool and Supply, West Columbia, South Carolina, died on August 1, 2018. Funeral services were held Monday, August 6, 2018 at Union United Methodist Church.

Born in Florence, South Carolina, Ronnie was the only son of the late James Herbert “Jimmy” Mann and Mary Lou Younginer Mann. Ronnie was a lifelong member of Union United Methodist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. He was a graduate of Irmo High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Joye McKown, who became his wife in 1963.

Ronnie worked alongside his father at Mann Electric Repair, until his father’s death in 1974, when he became owner and President of the company. In 2001, Mann Electric Repair became Mann Tool and Supply and moved to their current location in West Columbia, South Carolina.

In 2013, Ronnie passed his Presidency to his daughter Suzanne. He then became Senior Vice President and immediate Past President of the company. He was active in the industry in STAFDA, Sphere 1 and several local and regional trade associations. Ronnie was a great friend of woodworkers and in addition to offering premium woodworking tool and machinery brands, the store also hosted classes for local woodworking hobbyists and groups including the Palmetto Woodturners and the Columbia Woodworkers. 

Ronnie and Mann Tool were featured in the April/May 2012 issue of Contractor Supply.  The cover story can be read here. His industry friends remember him as a great Southern gentleman and a staunch friend.
