The laser and level category continues to add improvements at every level, from professional-grade rotating lasers to hand-held pocket models. These leading companies continue the pursuit of error-free measurement.
STABILA
“Our new Tech levels come with an IP67 rating, offering exceptional protection against dust and water. They can even be temporarily submerged — up to 30 minutes at a depth of 3 feet — thanks to our Ultra-Protect technology.”
The need for regular calibration is a thing of the past. Stabila’s high-quality sensors and advanced production processes ensure that the electronics remain accurate during everyday use, even after drops or exposure to temperature changes.
“We’ve further improved the measurement accuracy of the new generation Tech levels,” Beck adds. “The accuracy is now ± 0.05 degrees at 0 and 90 degrees and ± 0.1 degree between 1 and 89 degrees.”
The electronics module comes packed with features: acoustic guidance with two distinct signals speeds up alignment, both displays offer adjustable illumination and light settings are retained even after power cycling. The digital display automatically rotates for easy reading, and the reference angle mode allows the user to save and transfer angles between components. The Hold function captures and retains measurements.
The L.S. Starrett Company has produced an ever-growing range of precision measurement and hand tools since 1880. Today there are more than 5,000 Starrett tools and blades for woodworking, construction and industry. |

SPECTRA PRECISION
Spectra Precsion’s HV302 vertical and horizonal laser is accurate up to 1/16 inch at 100 feet, making it indispensible for large projects with extremely tight accuracy requirements. |
On construction sites today, professionals have two primary choices for layout and vertical alignment tools: point and line lasers, which are cost-effective and best suited for shorter distances, and horizontal/ vertical rotating lasers, which deliver exceptional accuracy and extended range for large, complex projects.
Point and line lasers are particularly effective for tasks involving precise alignment at close range. These lasers excel in indoor applications like room layouts, tile alignment and electrical outlet installation. Their combination of affordability and user-friendliness makes them indispensable for residential and small commercial work.
“Full-featured horizontal and vertical lasers are the ultimate solution for large commercial projects, providing the accuracy, versatility and range needed to tackle the most demanding construction tasks,” says Luca Pugina, global product manager. “Their superior performance in both indoor and outdoor environments sets them apart as essential tools for any large-scale job.”
Outdoors, these lasers excel in tasks such as tilt-up concrete, site preparation, laying foundations and aligning walls in large commercial spaces. Their extended range and robust durability make them ideal for both leveling and vertical alignment. Indoors, they switch between horizontal and vertical modes for a wide range of applications.
